I love listening or should I say reading the overlying tone
of comments & emails… and if there is one thing for sure it is this:Nursing School has started for many of you
and it is shocking!I’m getting a lot of
emails from students who are saying that nursing school is completely stressing
them out and if I have any tips to deal with this.Well since I did overcome the stress of
nursing school and I also work in a very very stressful environment there are
definitely a few tips that I can give you!
Lets focus on the top 5.
1. Tip number one meditate! All you have to do is go to the top of a mountain, stay in the same
position and not think about anything for at least 2 hours :)
ORRRRR – You could do what I do every day and this is call
which is called a pause meditation. All
this means is that you take an every day moment, but somehow become fully
present in this moment.Become fully
aware of your surroundings, feel every part of your body and send out one huge
thank you for the gift of it all… even the things that are stressing you out
the most!
2. Move & Stretch – Stress causes muscles to tense up
which slightly decreases the natural flow of blood. But this can ultimately make you feel really
uncomfortable.Getting up and stretching
for 1 minute can have a drastic change in how you feel instantly! If you’re in class wait for a break and put
your booty up against the wall and go to town.Your classmates will make fun of you…. But secretly they will be wanting
to do it as well.
3. Be aware of how foods are making you feel and have “Power
Snacks” around you at all times!I
completely stopped eating a “Lunch” or “Meal” during the day in college because
all I wanted to do afterwards was “Go to Sleep.”Instead I always made sure I hadhealthy snacks around me including (but not
limited to): Nuts, Carrot sticks, sliced grapefruit, a banana, granola or
anything else that made me feel good and nourished my body!Having these foods around all the time helped
me relax and focus on my studies.
4. Say NO!!!The
nursing profession attacks the sweetest people in the world; many of us have
the hardest time saying no!But saying
YES to something is always saying NO to something else! You have to be ok with putting yourself
first, so that you can be more of an asset to the world later!
5. Put yourself around positive words!Guys, turn off the TV, Watch limited Youtube
videos that are not directly related to your goals, surround yourself with
encouraging words!Limiting distractions
could be the number one challenge of our time!!So take the initiative and do just that!Just a little gift for you, I have created an audio with the link below
which you can download immediately.This
includes good music and quotes from the most amazing people that walked the
face of this earth! They will remind you
that hard work, focus and consistency is the key to your success as well as
recharge your batteries to keep going strong!
If so please share it with your friends, like the video
because it makes me happy and subscribe to the channel so that you are updated

Tips for High School Students Who Want to be Nurses!
Preparing for your future starts in high school.
The harder you study now.... The more doors will be open to you!
If you are considering nursing, you should take classes now that will prepare you for college later. Coursework should include English/language arts, algebra
For example, did you know that nurses use algebra daily when figuring medication dosages?
The knowledge you learn in high school builds the foundation for your college education and career.
Other recommended courses include biology, chemistry, physics, psychology, speech, foreign language, and anatomy and physiology.
Many college advisors recommend higher-level Advanced Placement (AP) classes when possible.
Do your best work and aim for good grades. Admission into nursing programs is competitive and grade point average (GPA) matters.
Nursing programs are rigorous and organizational techniques improve your performance, so practice effective study and time management skills while you are in high school.
- Visit the school website or campus that interests you the most.
- Find out which entrance exams they require, such as the SAT, ACT, or others. STUDY STUDY STUDY for these exams... go to AMAZON.COM purchase the study book and go through every single part of it!!
- Apply to multiple schools.... I would say at least 5!!! Give yourself options!
What else can you do to prepare?
How about volunteering at a local hospital or extended care facility?
rewarding activity that may lead to mentoring and scholarship opportunities.
Also it will help you with your college essay!!
I hope this helps!!
Keep in touch!
Love you guys!!

Hello Hello my LOVES!!
I am Caroline Porter Thomas and created this video for Marion who asked "Can you make a video about nursing students who have had part time jobs and still excelled in nursing school."
I love how you are intelligently approaching the nursing education process and evaluating whether or not this is something that a working adult could feasibly do!
While I did not work, I did go to school with many nursing students who worked. While it is not ideal there were a few things that I noticed about the students who worked and were successful.
This is a list of the Traits:
1. They had very clearly outlined goals and they were super excited about what they were working towards.
2. They ate relatively healthy and skipped all of the big group lunches with classmates... as I did too.
3. They said "No" a lot. To anything that would take them further away from their goals.
4. They surrounded themselves with Driven and Positive people.
5. They utilized every second wisely.... I remember one very driven student would keep his head in the book when everyone else was socializing during a class break.
6. They had a lot of FAITH!!! That they were doing what they were supposed to be doing, that they would be given the tools necessary to succeed and that their future was going to be much better.
It is possible to work and go to nursing school, yes, but you have to be 20 times more focused for sure!
Another thing that I saw which I forgot to mention was that it did help if they had a job which did allow at least some time to glance through their book or notes. Jobs like security guards who site at monitor screens or Telemetry technicians or maybe secretary work at a place that is not super duper busy would be great!
I did see quite a few nursing students work as CNA's and although I do think that you will get some great experience, you will most of the time never be able to glance at ANYTHING!!! Of course depending where and when you work. I did see a lot of CNA's work the night shift, which did allow about an hour or 2 from the hours of 2am to 4am. So if you can handle it that could be a good option for you!
So, if you do have to work... don't let that stop you!!
You can still do it!!
For more great tips to help you stay focused you can see my book here!!
